There are dozens of destinations in Niagara and beyond associated with the Laura Secord story. We have identified and visited quite a number of them, and posted QR code markers like these at most of the sites. If you see one of these QR code signs in the field and have a smartphone with a data plan, you can simply scan the code and get near-instant access to a website which tells you all about the destination, and which usually provides an interpretive audio TripClip about the location that you can listen to onsite.
Some of the destinations we have identified are close to the actual Laura Secord Heritage Trail. Others are off the trail, but may be part of walking, cycling, or car-based tours that you can take to familiarize yourself with the Laura Secord story. Most destinations have TripClip audio narrations that you can listen to onsite or in the car on your mobile device, or at home on your computer or tablet. You can also download the TripClips, load them onto the music player on your phone or onto a portable MP3 player and listen to them whenever you like, without the need for a data plan.
On the main website, you can search for and choose destinations that interest you, and then combine them into your own custom tour using the Travel Itinerary panel on the right side of any point of interest page. WHen you are done planning, the website will provide you with a series of maps, turn by turn directions amongst all your destinations, PDF versions of each point of interest webpage, and access to interpretive audio TripClips for the destinations you visit! Instructions about how to use the Travel Itinerary builder are here.
