General Information

This Georgian-style inn was once home to Charles Richardson, a Member of Parliament for Niagara between 1834-1836. This immaculate Manor House was built in 1832, and offers 12 luxurious guestrooms, providing visitors a relaxing and unforgettable environment.  Charles Inn recieved its name from its first owner, Charles Richardson.

Charles Inn provides an elegant dining experience at its restaurant located within the building.  Chef de Cuisine William Brunyansky prepares exquisite French Contemporary dishes infused with the Niagara region’s influence.  Fresh Niagara produce is purchased to incorporate enriched flavors that add to every dish.

Environmental

Charles Inn is a proud member of the Ontario’s Finest Inns and has taken the initiative to become a more environmentally friendly hotel.  Becoming eco-friendly means being aware of the environmental implications and operating in a more sustainable manner.  Charles Inn indicates that environmental aspects are taken into consideration in their building management, guest services and dining.

Environmental Initiatives include:

• Linen re-use program
• Recycling bins in guest rooms and the hotel’s offices – paper products, cardboard, glass, plastic, and tin can all be recycled
• Hotel has a publicly-accessed jug-less water cooler that provides complimentary cold purified water for guests and in-room glass pitchers - this reduces the need for guests to purchase bottled water decreasing the amount of plastic that ends up in land fill sites
• Housekeepers use an eco friendly line of cleaning chemicals
• Hotel participates and promotes in environmental related events such as Earth Hour
• Certain items after a period of use are donated to local charitable organizations such as Gillian’s Place in St. Catharines, Ontario instead of these items being thrown out
• Hotel offers a 100% indoor non-smoking environment  

Adjacent Land Uses

Lake Ontario, along with Niagara-on-the-Lake's downtown area are distinctly visible from Charles Inn.  If guests wish to explore unique shops, pubs, the Niagara Historical Society & Museum and the three Shaw Theaters, guest services are readily available to assist in helping guests.  North America's oldest golf course, Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club, established in 1875 is only a few minutes walk from Charles Inn.  Trails on the Niagara River provide great recreational activity.  There are also many cycling tours, along with winery tours that guest services may set up for anyone who is aspired by Niagara's natural environment.
